How to Give Google Business Profile Manager Access

A simple walkthrough for business owners and agencies. Share exactly the right level of access without giving up ownership.

Which role should you choose?

Primary owner

Full control, including the ability to transfer or delete the profile.

Owner

Can manage most settings and remove managers, but cannot remove the primary owner.

Manager

Can edit, post, respond to reviews, and view insights. Best for agencies.

For agencies doing local SEO, the Manager role is almost always the right choice. It gives them enough access to optimize listings and respond to reviews while you keep ownership.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

    Sign in as the owner

Go to business.google.com and sign in with the Google account that owns the Business Profile. Only owners and primary owners can add managers.

  2. 2

Open the location you want to share

If you manage multiple locations, click the one the agency or manager needs access to. Repeat the process for each location.

  3. 3

    Go to the Managers section

Click the settings or menu icon, then choose Business Profile settings > Managers. You will see a list of people who already have access.

  4. 4

    Add a manager

Click Add manager. Enter the email address of the person or agency that needs access. Double-check the address — manager invites cannot be transferred.

  5. 5

    Choose Manager (not Owner)

Select Manager unless you intend to hand full ownership over. A manager can edit the profile, respond to reviews, and post updates, but cannot remove the owner.

  6. 6

    Send the invite

Click Invite. Google sends an email to the address you entered. The invitee must accept the invitation within the time limit shown.

  7. 7

    Wait for acceptance

Once the invitee accepts, the location appears in their Google Business Profile account. You can return to the Managers section to check the status or remove access.

  8. 8

    Repeat for each location

Agencies often need access to every client location. If you have several, repeat the steps above or ask the agency which specific locations they need.

The faster way for agencies

Instead of collecting every client's Google account email and sending individual invites, Ezi lets you create one reusable link. Your client clicks Continue with Google, selects the locations they want to share, and the manager invitations are sent automatically. No manual invites, no back-and-forth, no missed locations.

  • One link for every client
  • Clients pick exactly which locations to share
  • Invitations sent from the client’s own account
  • Track accepted, pending, and failed invitations in one dashboard

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove a manager later?

Yes. Owners and primary owners can remove managers from the Managers section at any time. The removed user will lose access immediately.

Does a manager need to use the same Google account as the business?

No. The manager uses their own Google account. The invite is sent to their email, and they accept it with their own account.

What if the invitation expires?

Google invitations can expire. If that happens, the owner can resend the invite from the same Managers section. With Ezi, clients can re-open the link and re-send the invitation themselves.

Turn access requests into one click

Stop chasing emails and screenshots. Send your clients one secure link and become a manager on their Google Business Profiles.
